Taytay, Rizal — In a swift and coordinated response to two recent disasters, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), in collaboration with the Local Economic Development Promotion Office (LEDIPO) Taytay, led by Cristina “Chin” Gonzales, provided critical relief assistance to communities in crisis.
Following a catastrophic fire that broke out on April 8 and ravaged four barangays in Taytay, Rizal, PAGCOR and LEDIPO moved quickly to deliver emergency aid. The tragic incident, one of the most severe in recent memory, claimed at least seven lives in Barangay San Juan and left over 60 families homeless. More than 300 families remain in temporary shelters as they work to rebuild their lives.
On May 5, relief teams distributed food packs and essential non-food items to those affected, offering much-needed support in the wake of the tragedy.
“We stand with our community in their darkest hour,” said LEDIPO head Cristina Gonzales. “This aid reflects our shared commitment to helping our people recover and rebuild.”
Beyond Rizal, the relief efforts extended to Sorsogon, where torrential rains and widespread flooding displaced families across the second district. In response, PAGCOR and LEDIPO Taytay also delivered 500 food packs to affected residents, continuing their mission of compassionate and timely assistance.
These coordinated efforts have been widely praised by local leaders and residents, underscoring the importance of unified action during times of crisis.
Authorities continue to monitor affected areas and are preparing additional aid initiatives in the coming weeks.
