The term TelaHISTORIA, derived from the Spanish words tela (fabric) and historia (history), captured the essence of the showcase — a melding of heritage and contemporary design. The event featured some of the country’s most innovative designers, each narrating a story of tradition, resilience, and creativity through their garments.

A highlight of the evening was the presentation of Tinnenun, the traditional handwoven fabric of the Yakan tribe from Basilan, Mindanao. Renowned for its vibrant colors and striking geometric patterns, Tinnenun remains a potent symbol of Yakan culture and craftsmanship. Traditionally worn during ceremonies, this textile was reimagined on the runway in a design that paired it with luxurious Mikado and delicate Jusi fabrics, creating a harmonious blend of indigenous artistry and modern elegance.
This fusion underscored the designers’ commitment to honoring cultural heritage while embracing contemporary fashion trends, embodying the evolution of modern Filipiniana.
