The massive new Great Park development in Irvine confirmed a massive new tenant: beloved burger chain In-N-Out. While In-N-Out is no stranger to Orange County, this new restaurant will be part of a project that is anything but ordinary.

Great Park is undergoing an ambitious transformation, with plans to eventually span roughly 1,300 acres on the former site of Marine Corps Air Station El Toro. When complete, it's expected to be larger than New York City’s famed Central Park, making it one of the largest urban parks in the United States.

And what better way to fuel a day of exploring than with a Double-Double and fries?

The new In-N-Out will serve as an anchor tenant at The Canopy, a 12-acre retail and dining destination designed to bring together shopping, restaurants and everyday conveniences in a walkable setting. The restaurant itself will cover nearly 3,860 square feet and feature a 500-square-foot outdoor patio, giving visitors plenty of room to enjoy their burgers under the California sun.

Of course, no In-N-Out would be complete without a drive-thru. This location will include a dual-lane system designed to help keep traffic moving, though longtime fans know that even the most efficient drive-thru can’t always tame the enthusiasm of hungry customers craving Animal Style favorites.

The Canopy is also expected to welcome other major tenants, including T&T Supermarket, adding to the destination’s growing appeal as an all-day gathering spot.

Construction on the new restaurant is underway, with the location expected to open toward the end of 2026. By then, visitors may be able to spend the morning exploring trails, lakes, sports facilities and attractions throughout Great Park before capping off the day with one of California’s most beloved burgers.

As Great Park continues its evolution into a sprawling recreational and entertainment hub, the arrival of In-N-Out is a fitting addition: An iconic park deserves an iconic burger, and The Canopy has its match.
